3 dogs in a VW rabbit

So my wonderful neighbor with the German Shorthaired Pointer and Border Collie came over for a walk with The Dude this morning. He has this silly project car that he just put a new engine into and is dead set on taking the dogs and me out to a new area to walk. He is very aware that Dudley needs a shorter walk and it will be a nice walk around a lake. But he is fixated on this whole thing of having all 3 dogs in the back of the car and the two of us. I told him that the car will probably barely be able to move with all of the weight! It would be a fun adventure and we wouldn’t have to go on the highway for too long. And Dudley absolutely loves the boys. I’m trying to be more “live in the moment” and not worry about the details so we may have some pictures to share next week. I know Dudley will hate the car ride but will love going to a new place. Actually he might tolerate the car ride because he’s with the boys. He follows their example! My neighbor knows all of the old logging roads so I am excited to go on walks with him, especially as we get into spring and summer. Dudley loves being out in the woods and smelling all of the smells! We are definitely more rural than his home base of Houston.

  1. LOL! We can’t wait for the photographic evidence!

I’d say you are absolutely living in the moment these days. Another one of Dudley’s purposes to come into your life. What a gift!

  2. I’m waiting for the punch line! 3 dogs in a VW rabbit… is it like how you fit the Pope in a VW?

I hope the trip works out and there are new pictures.

    1. I will definitely take pictures! I have a feeling it will be like a clown car…My neighbor is really awesome and wants to take all 3 of the boys on new adventures with Dudley in mind. Dudley loves the boys and they are so well behaved, he follows their example and really looks up to my neighbor as the pack leader. I asked my neighbor if he really just wants to see how many dogs and people he can fit in the car…he gave me a little smile and said “sort of”…he’s very cheeky and we love spending time with him and his wife. They are just a little younger than my parents and are hilarious and lovely to spend time with. They absolutely adore Dudley…and appreciate his “property inspections” He has to nose around everywhere before going inside to say hello. He was completely oblivious to the horse in the barn…just said “Wow…that’s a big dog” and carried on with being nosy.

  3. Good for you for being flexible and willing to try new adventures with your friends and the Dude.
They sound like delightful fun people and clearly have an affinity for Volkswagens and dogs. That’s a great combo.
Agreed, can’t wait to see the pictures and maybe even videos. Dudley is such a lucky boy to have such a wonderful hooman to love him and surround him with so much joy and exciting adventures.

PS…. yes, there has to be a great punch line. I’m just not sure what it is

    1. Sally! We are so fortunate to have two sets of dog loving neighbors who absolutely adore Dudley. Dudley does little grunts and squeals whenever he hears their dogs outside. The weather has been crappy on the weekends so we haven’t gone for adventures yet. But I will definitely be taking pictures and video! Once spring hits, we will be doing lots of fun walks with the boys. I love that my neighbor and his boy dogs are part of Dudley’s pack. He follows their lead. It’s funny, the border collie and Dudley were having some sort of stand off last time we walked…I looked over and said “What is up with them?” They were staring each other down and then had that moment where Dudley started running around and the border collie was trying to herd him. They are all such mellow dogs and walk amazing together. Dudley has the biggest grin on his face when he’s with other dogs <3 He's getting used to our other neighbor's Malinois. She is a really good girl but she is very vocal…He doesn't care for the constant barking but he does love to steal her bed!
